Field Service Technician JOHN DEERE GOLF
BEARD EQUIPMENT CO. is seeking a Field Service Technician in Southern Louisiana, Mississippi and the surrounding area.

This position performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, evaluations, repairs and maintenance on commercial turf equipment, at customer locations.  This includes gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivelines, electrical systems, and cutting units .  This position interfaces directly with the customer and contributes to customer satisfaction by repairing equipment and minimizing downtime.


Experience: Strong mechanical background with experience in golf course, commercial turf, and agricultural service is preferred.

Experience:        The ideal candidate will have experience performing spray applications (including
                         herbicides, fungicides and insecticides) and fertilizer applications on a golf course.
                         They will also be responsible for scouting for disease and pests, monitoring moisture and   
                         hand watering greens.  This position is perfect for an individual who is currently
                         employed as a golf course spray technician and looking to advance into a
                         position with supervisory duties.

Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation is the leading commercial golf & gounds equipmet and irrigation distributor in the southeast.  We are seeking an Irrigation Field Service Technician in the Baton Rouge or surrounding areas.  This position provides technical support services and installation of irrigation products sold by Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation at our customer’s locations. This includes, but not limited to; on site solutions, technical services, preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs and customer support for commercial and golf irrigation systems to include pump stations. This specifically includes but is not limited to the following areas; pump station controls and components, irrigation control software, irrigation field controllers, radios, sprinklers, electrical wiring, hydraulic controls, valves, and GPS services. This position interfaces directly with the customer and contributes to customer satisfaction by accurately identifying the problem, repairing the equipment correctly the first time, and meeting the required date.

Deerfield Golf Club is located in Canton, Mississippi. This 18 hole championship course was one of five golf courses designed by the late Byron Nelson. Over the next 3 years, the plan is to renovate 5 sets of tees, 3 lake bank renovations, and some bunkers, some of which will be done in-house.

Course Description:   18 hole private golf course, Greens - Mini-Verde,Tees, Fairways, and Roughs - 419 Bermuda

Duties:       

  • Work with Superintendent in day to day operaqtions
  • Responsible for Fertilization and Chemical applications
  • Maintain Irrigation system and repairs
  • Supervision and daily scheduling of the crew
  •  Assist in maintaining records and purchasing

Requirements: Minimum 2 to 4 year turf grass management degree. Ability to obtain a pesticide applicators license within a year.

Assistant Superintendent Opening - The Country Club of Jackson

About the Course

Founded in 1912, The Country Club of Jackson is a 27 hole private facility located in Jackson, MS with 1,100 members. The course hosts the PGA tour event Sanderson Farms Championship annually and has hosted many high level amateur events in the past few years such as the State Amateur and the Southern Junior Amateur.  The course went through a major renovation in 2008 by architect John Fought. The greens, which were the focus of the renovation, are championship Bermuda grass and according to players on the PGA tour consistently rank as some of the best greens on tour. CCJ’s practice facilities is the best in the state. It includes a full range with three tees covering 1.5 acres, chipping complex with three greens and four practice bunkers, a teaching facility, as well as a massive 19,000 sqft putting green. The areas in play on the course are predominately covered with 419 Bermuda grass except for a few areas of diamond zoysia and tall fescue located in heavily shaded areas. The Country Club also sports a 15,000 croquet court which is tifeagle and had the honor of being ranked the number one court in the country in 2016. Aside from the golf  course, The Country Club  sports a 40,000 sqft club house, 3 restaurants inside the club house, an Olympic style pool, golf pro shop, archery range, walking trails, 12 tennis courts, 4 pickle ball courts and as mentioned before a championship quality croquet court. 

About the Job

We are currently in search for an assistant superintendent that could begin work immediately. Salary will be based on experience. Our staff consists of 22 full time crew members, an assistant and head mechanic, three assistant superintendents, and our head superintendent Stanley Reedy. We have a 16,000 sqft maintenance building that was built in 2008 and updated in 2016. The equipment is a mixture of Toro and Jacobsen and is updated on a yearly schedule. An assistant superintendent will be expected to but not limited to:

  • Supervising and helping in the daily setup of the golf course
  • Calibration of spraying equipment and spreaders
  • Assisting in repairs to the Toro irrigation system
  • Supervising daily up keep of equipment with our mechanics
  • Being involved and helping plan out different cultural practices to the golf course
  • Supervising or applying fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides granularly and by spraying
  • Supervision of the maintenance crew
  • Management of all agronomic aspects of the 300 acre facility

Requirements

Job applicants are required to have at least 2 years of experience which can be in the form of internships. A two to four year turf degree is highly preferred but not required. Experience in fertilizer/pesticide application as well as irrigation is a plus. Candidates need to be hard working, self-motivated, and be willing to put in the time and effort to help maintain the course to the highest golfing standards.
